Every chapter of In Harmonie’s story is marked by the unmistakable presence of God — guiding, shaping, and calling this place into being. What began as a simple piece of farmland in the Franschhoek Valley has become a sacred meeting ground between heaven and earth, where countless hearts have encountered His peace.
From its earliest days, the land was set apart — not through human design, but divine intention. Over the years, through prayer, vision, and obedience, In Harmonie has grown into a refuge for Christian leaders and ministries seeking to rest, listen, and realign their hearts with God’s purpose. Every season has carried its own lessons: of surrender, of faith, and of grace.
This history is not just a record of events; it is a living testimony of God’s faithfulness. It tells the story of His timing, His provision, and His relentless desire to draw His people closer to Him. Through drought and abundance, silence and song, In Harmonie stands as a reminder that when we yield our plans to the Lord, He creates something far greater than we could ever imagine.
In 1985, La Motte Wine Estate purchased the neighbouring Harmonie farm in the beautiful Franschhoek Valley. No one yet knew the greater purpose this land would serve, but even then, God was setting it apart for something sacred — a place that would one day become a haven of peace and transformation.
In 2006, Hanneli Rupert-Koegelenberg received a vivid dream from the Lord — a vision of a place of prayer where His presence would dwell. Soon after, the Harmonie farm became available, and with it came the divine confirmation that this was no coincidence. The vision for In Harmonie, a place of change, began to take root in her heart.
Two years later, the vision for In Harmonie began to stir into action. Prayer, planning, and discernment unfolded as the Lord continued to reveal His purposes for the land. What once was farmland was now being set apart as holy ground — a future sanctuary for rest, restoration, and reconciliation.
In 2011, the Harmonie land was walked and prayed over by believers who sought God’s blessing and presence to fill it. A prophetic gathering of worship and intercession followed, uniting churches from across surrounding communities. Scriptures were planted into the soil, including Hosea 10:12 — “It is time to seek the Lord, that He may come and rain righteousness upon you.” This was the moment In Harmonie was truly dedicated to God.
By 2013, the vision began to take physical form. Construction started on what would become the home of In Harmonie. Each building, pathway, and garden was designed with purpose — to create an environment where people could encounter God through rest, restoration, and reconciliation.
In 2014, the Agnus Dei Prayer Garden mosaic was completed — a visual symbol of worship and surrender. A prayer of dedication was spoken over the entire property, offering every space back to the Lord. That same year, Hanneli Rupert offered her final public singing performance in Coram Deo, a moment that felt like both an ending and a beginning.
In 2015, In Harmonie officially opened its doors. What began as a dream had become a living reality — a place of change where Christian leaders and ministries could find rest for their souls and encounter God in a tangible way. The air carried both excitement and reverence, for this was truly the Lord’s doing.
By 2017, In Harmonie hosted its first official Prayer Gathering — an intercessory event that drew believers from across South Africa. It became an annual rhythm, a time of unity and listening to God together as He continued to shape the story of this sacred place.
In 2020, the world shifted with the onset of the global pandemic. Like many others, In Harmonie faced the stillness of lockdowns and restrictions. Yet, even in the quiet, God continued His work beneath the surface — reminding all who are part of this journey that His presence is not bound by gatherings or walls.
In 2021, a new season dawned. It was a time to pause, to rest in His promises, and to rediscover the heart of In Harmonie’s calling — to be a place of rest, restoration, and reconciliation for those who serve Him.
As 2022 unfolded, In Harmonie continued in this renewed rhythm, listening and discerning how best to serve Christian leaders throughout South Africa. Through experimentation, prayer, and open hearts, the journey of transformation carried on — proving once again that God’s work is never finished, only unfolding.
Ten years after its official opening, in Harmonie stands as a living testimony of God’s goodness, grace, and unshakable presence. What began as a simple dream in 2006 has grown into a flourishing community where lives are touched, faith is strengthened, and hearts are continually renewed.
This ten-year celebration was not only a reflection of what has been built, but of what God continues to build — a reminder that in Harmonie was never just a place, but a promise. A promise that change, restoration, and reconciliation will always be possible when hearts remain surrendered to Him.
From the first prayer whispered over the land to the countless encounters that have followed, the story of in Harmonie continues to be one of faith, obedience, and transformation.
